Day 1 Avignon
Arrival in Avignon, Cité des Papes. Nice hotel in the very heart of the city.
Day 2 Avignon – St. Rémy 56 km
Before your day’s cycle begins you will have time in Avignon to visit the Roman monuments and the impressive Palace of the Popes. You will then leave Avignon along small quiet roads towards one of the most beautiful and typical villages of the region: St Rémy. Known for the heavily scented aromas of wild herbs. St Rémy was also where Van Gogh lived and Nostradamus was born. You can enjoy the end of the day in the romantic small streets and squares of St Rémy.
Day 3 St. Rémy – Les Baux – St. Rémy 40 km
Today you’re cycling a circular route from St Remy to Les Baux. The remarkable pilgrimage site of Les Baux was built on a 200m high rocky outcrop and is dominated by a ruined fortress. The wines from Les Baux have recently been granted appellation status. On the way you can enjoy a wine and olive oil tasting on a wine grower’s farm!
This wonderful landscape in the shadow of the Alpilles mountains is one of the areas which inspired Van Gogh for many of his paintings. Then cycling through the fantastic countryside for the last part of the tour .
Day 4 St Rèmy – Arles 32 km
This day you will leave St Remy to cycle south, towards to the Mediterranean sea. Once you reach the town of Arles, perched on the side of the Rhône, take the time to visit the well-preserved amphitheatre, and the other countless medieval and Roman monuments.
Day 5 Departure
After breakfast, it will be time to say “goodbye” to this wonderful area.
