Day 1 Tours
Arrival in Tours, capital of Touraine. Beautiful town with its old quarters.
Day 2 Tours – Villandry 21 km
Straight after leaving the city of Tours, you are already on the riverside of Cher. The bike trail winds parallel to the Cher and the Loire leading to beautiful views over the rivers. You will pass the enchanting gardens of the Château de Villandry. For the kids there is always the opportunity to play in the playgrounds and in the summer months bathing in the Cher is possible.
Day 3 Villandry – Azay-le-Rideau 25 km
Romantic river landscapes, beautiful stone houses and finally the Château d’Azay-le-Rideau with its interesting parkland, a wonderful ride.
Day 4 Azay-le-Rideau – Montbazon 25 km
You will cycle along the Valley of Mills (on the banks of Indre). Interesting views of the cliff dwellings along the road. What about a visit to the basket makers? Arrival in Montbazon with its impressive Donjon from the XIIth C, with towers overlooking the village.
Day 5 Montbazon – Chenonceaux 37 km
From Montbazon you reach Bléré, a pretty little village. Then you arrive in Chenonceaux. The castle of Chenonceau is the highlight of the trip. Catherine de Medicis and Diane de Poitiers used to live in this castle called “the ladies’ castle”. The gardens are as fantastic as the castle itself, with fun natural mazes for the whole family.
Day 6 Chenonceaux – Amboise 15 km
Today you will cycle through the former royal forests towards Amboise. Shortly before reaching the destination, you will be able to visit an outside museum: miniature castles of the Loire Valley, which are an attraction to children. Amboise is a very lively little town where you can visit the castle and the famous “Clos Lucé” where the famous Leonard de Vinci lived.
Day 7 Amboise – Tours ca. 28 km
Today you cycle along the Loire back to Tours. You will discover the troglodyte dwellings. Before arriving in Tours, why not stop at the Luluparc with its numerous attractions.
Day 8 Departure
Time to leave this beautiful area, with suitcases and heads full of souvenirs and memories!
