Day by day

Day 1 Dijon

Discover the treasures of Dijon like the Church Notre Dame, the Tomb of the Dukes; the Dukes were in the medieval Burgundy more important than the king of France. The influence of the Dukes of Burgundy was renowned and they were particularly close to the English throne.

Day 2 Dijon – Beaune 43 km

The rolling vineyard country is waiting for you. This is the heart of Burgundy and you will savour it. Have a look at the wine château of Aloxe Corton, with its delightfully ornate roof, or the 12th Century Clos de Vougeot Château, which was the property of the Citeaux abbay for several centuries.  You pass through the town Nuits-Saint-Georges, which has produced world famous wine for thousand years. In Beaune, you will have a tasting in the world-renowned wine village.

Day 3 Beaune –La Bussière 46 km

Today you  cycle to La Bussière. This area is typical for historical monuments, such as the old village wash houses. Possibility to visit Chateauneuf and the castle from the XVth century before leaving to La Bussière.

Day 4 La Bussière – Dijon 40 km

Before leaving you can visit the Cistercian-Abbay. After that you will cycle along the Canal de Bourgogne in the Ouche Valley. The way back at the waterside is easy to ride and you will arrive at Dijon by the lake Kir.

Day 5 Departure 

Breakfast and departure from Dijon.

Route characteristics :Easy terrain, just on day 3 easy but long climb from Savigny. Asphalted side routes, agricultural roads and cycling paths.
