Description

Bordeaux, a fascinating town full of history and trade, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and the centre of the biggest wine producing region in the world. During this cycling itinerary you will explore a large part of the vineyards on the right banks of the river Garonne.

Day by day

Day 1 Bordeaux

Welcome meeting at the centrally located hotel in Bordeaux. 2300 years of history have already been written here. Celts, Romans and finally the Franks appreciated the favourable location at the mouth of the Garonne and Dordogne, as well as the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Dinner in the city centre and overnight stay.

Day 2 Bordeaux – Cadillac / Langon 51 km

You leave Bordeaux and cycle along a wonderful bike path near the Garonne towards the Abbey Notre-Dame-de-la Sauve-Majeure, which is located in the large forest Entre-Deux Mers. After passing the forest, vineyards, Cadillac and Sainte Croix du Mont you finally reach your destination Langon.

Day 3 Langon – St Emilion 61 km

Today’s ride leads you through the wine region Entre-deux-Mers. After you passed Saint Macaire and its medivial church, the path leads you to Château de Malrome. The painter Toulouse-Lautrec lived here till his death. Continue your tour to Saint Emilion.

Day 4 Around Saint Emilion 25 km

Today is dedicated to the beautiful surroundings of Saint Emilion and its famous vineyards. The medieval town of Saint Emilion itself is a work of art. Its impressive monolithic rock church impresses with its unusual production directly from the rock. Finally, our bike tour passes through the vineyards with its famous vineyards, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Day 5 Saint Emilion – Bordeaux 58 km

Today’s cycling route takes you through the vineyards of St Emilion across the Dordogne back to the famous winegrowing region of Entre-deux-Mers. You will experience a varied route and there are some opportunities to stop for a wine tasting. Return to Bordeaux in the late afternoon.

Day 6 Bordeaux – Medoc – Bordeaux 68km

Bike ride to the vineyard Medoc. The outward journey leads along the Gironde estuary and every now and then a magnificent view of the largest estuary in Europe is possible. Arrival at Château Margaux. Awe-inspiring cycling through the noble vineyards before returning to Bordeaux via a bike path through the pine forests.

Day 7 Departure

After breakfast, the service of FRANCE À VÉLO ends. You can depart for a beach holiday to the beautiful beaches of the coast or travel back home.
