Day 1 Arrival in Bruges
The historic center of Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will seduce you with its architecture and cultural treasures. Children, on the other hand, shouldn’t be left wanting. Climb aboard for a half-hour mini-cruise on the “Reien”, Bruges’ canals. Bruges is synonymous with chocolate: a visit to the Choco-Story Museum, which tells the story of this Belgian delicacy, is well worth the effort. Also recommended is Zeebrugge, “Bruges-on-the-Sea”.
Day 2 Bruges – De Haan – Ostende 40 km
On the way to Ostend, the route takes you through De Haan, the only village along the Belgian coast to have preserved its “Belle Epoque” (19th century) architecture, and ends in Ostend, sometimes nicknamed the “Queen of Beaches”. Situated 100 meters from the beach, the hotel in Ostend is specially adapted for children. There’s also the ‘Airport Bowl’ playground, ‘De Lange Schuur’ children’s farm and much more.
Day 3 Tour to Oudenburg 30 km
This route takes us through the typical Flemish polder landscape, with its many fields and meadows, and small villages in the distance, such as Oudenburg, founded on the site of an ancient Roman settlement.
Day 4 Tour to Nieuwpoort 44 km
Nieuwpoort, like Ostend and Blankenberge, is a very popular seaside resort. Situated on the banks of the Yser, a river that played an important role in the First World War, Nieuwpoort is one of Belgium’s favorite seaside towns. Children will certainly appreciate its maritime district and the Ysermonde nature reserve. And why not take a swim break?
Day 5 Ostende – Bruges 37 km
We return to Bruges via charming Flemish villages like Bredene, via the Ostend-Bruges canal and the “Spuikom”. A day at the seaside is every child’s dream!
Day 6 Tour to Blankenberge 31 km
Blankenberge is Belgium’s favorite seaside resort. Children will certainly enjoy the Sea Life Marine Park, where they can discover river and ocean fauna such as piranhas, sharks and more.
Day 7 Departure
It is time to say goodbye, it is the end of you cycle holiday.
