Characteristics of this journey/holiday

Day by day

Day 1 Orange

Arrival to Orange. There is time to visit the Roman theater, one of the best preserved in France. With a glass of wine, you can prepare yourself for your cycling holiday during our welcome talk.

Day 2 Orange Vaison la Romaine – Mazan  54 km

You leave Orange on small quiet side roads and drive mainly along vineyards on the picturesque mountains “Les Dentelles de Montmirail” with its jagged peaks. Sablet and Gigondas, known for their good wines, are on the route. When you arrive in Vaison-la-Romaine, you should visit the Roman excavations before continuing to Mazan.

Day 3 Mazan – Mount Ventoux Mazan  61 km

Today’s cycling day leads to the top of the “giant”! First, you cycle around the Mont Ventoux through pine forests, olive and peach plantations and then you go up. A very nice panorama ride and a pleasant descent with views of the French mountains and to the coast.

Day 4 Mazan – Gorges de la Nesque – Apt  58 km

It is one of the most beautiful gorges in southern France, the Gorges de la Nesque. Picturesque cycling towards Sault, center of lavender production. From Sault you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Mont Ventoux and the linear lavender fields. Wonderful descent along the ridge of the Albion with its many limestone formations to the regional park “Luberon”.

Day 5 Apt – L’Isle sur la Sorgue  52 km

The Luberon Regional Park was launched in 1977. Ocher quarries, limestone mountains, olive groves and picturesque villages characterize the landscape. Passing through the park is partly on a disused railway line of picturesque beauty. A highlight of the day: Gordes! The village lies like an eagle’s nest on a hill high above the Luberon valley. Possibility to visit the Cistercian Abbey Senanque.

Day 6 L’Isle sur la Sorgue – Avignon – Uzès  72 km

Leaving Isle-sur-Sorgue, with its many antique shops and watermills, you will first arrive in Avignon where you have the opportunity to visit the former Pope’s Palace. Afterwards you continue to the Pont du Gard with its 2000-year-old history. A very scenic cycle path leads from here to Uzès, one of the most beautiful villages of Provence.

Day 7 Uzès – Orange  54 km

After a walk through the historic city center and its gallery buildings of Uzes, the last day of cycling takes you through an eclectic landscape of vineyards, pine forests and river landscapes to Orange.
